The Great Patriotic War, perhaps was one of awful and bloody wars in History. It predetermined results Second World War and help peoples to overcome Nazism. Soviet people showed incredible courage and heroism in fight for Great Victory. Now every family keep memory about their relatives and close persons \u2013 faces and names people, who had been fighting on military fronts and had been working in rear.
\nOn exhibition \u201cFaces of Victory\u201d we can see faces of veterans of Temirtau, which also had been working after war for Karaganda Metallurgical Plant. Between them there are such names as F. Marchenko, P. Yezhak, V. Nazarov, E. Verzhevikina et cetera. Between them there is also portrait of Honorary citizen of Temirtau and veteran of The Great Patriotic War M. Podlesnykh.
\nMikhail Stepanovitch was drafted into The Red Army in 1942. He fought on the Volkhov and Leningrad fronts. Mikhail Stepanovitch was wounded in the war and received eleven combat awards. He also had work as Graphic Designer in 36st reserve Rifle Division with such masters as M. Gordon, P. Vaneyev, S. Philippov. He was participant of exhibition of front-line artists in 1945.
\nAfter War, in 1950 Mikhail Stepanovitch moved to Temirtau town. There he was engaged of creative activity. He participated in different exhibitions \u2013 international, all-union, republican, regional, urban and was led Children\u2019s art room. Mikhail Stepanovitch over the years was created peculiar chronicle in colours of Temirtau town. This chronicle displayed in his the most famous pictures, such as \u201cKaraganda GES 1\u201d, \u201cSamarkand\u2019s lake\u201d, \u201cBy the open-hearth furnace\u201d, \u201cMagnitka\u201d, \u201cIce fishing\u201d. Pictures of Mikhail Podlesnykh were acquired for museums, galleries, private collectors of Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, USA, Israel, France and other countries.
\nDestinies of veterans of the Second World War were different. But, either way the Great Patriotic War has been terrible hardship for all people. Our fathers and grandfathers were able to repel the enemy invasion, they saved our Motherland. Even after war our veterans continued to help their country, they made a major contribution in development of all aspects of civilian life from heavy industry to culture and art. Their biography should serve as a permanent example for present and future generations. Since faces of veterans of the Second World War are Faces of our Victory.
